Forest Park is a public park situated in western St. Louis. The park encompasses over 1,300 acres making it one of the largest urban parks in the country. In fact, it’s even larger than Central Park in New York City!
The park opened in 1876 and has since hosted some of St. Louis’ most prominent events including both the 1904 World’s Fair and 1904 Summer Olympics. Forest Park is bounded by Lindell Boulevard, Oakland Avenue, Washington University, Kingshighway Boulevard, and Skinker Boulevard, and is often referred to as the “Heart of St. Louis.” And did we mention that it’s home to several of St. Louis’ most popular tourist attractions? Here you’ll find attractions such as the St. Louis Science Center, St. Louis Art Museum, St. Louis Zoo, and the Missouri History Museum.
